NBSC Takes Center Stage as Paper Presenter at 21st NRCP Mindanao Regional Cluster Convention
The recently concluded 21st NRCP Mindanao Regional Cluster (MRC) Convention and Stakeholder’s Engagement marked a significant milestone in advancing the discourse on science, technology, and innovation for sustainable development in the Mindanao Region. Held at Caraga State University from November 30 to December 1, 2023, the event gathered key stakeholders, researchers, and experts committed to shaping a positive VUCAD2 (Visionary, Understandable, Clear, Agile, Digital, Diverse) future for the region.
Dr. Christine C. Royo, the esteemed Head of the Teacher Education Department at Northern Bukidnon State College and an NRCP Associate Member in Governmental, Educational, and International Policies, took center stage at the convention. Dr. Royo, also the project leader, presented a groundbreaking paper titled “Role of Creative Industry in Socio-Economic Development in the Mindanao Region.” Her insightful exploration delved into the critical intersection of creative industries and socio-economic progress, providing a roadmap for harnessing the region’s untapped potential.
Accompanying Dr. Royo were dedicated members of the research team, including Helen B. Ajon, Anna Marie D. Genita, Roseanne Lontian, and Sheryl Nioda. Their collective efforts contributed to a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and opportunities inherent in leveraging creative industries for sustainable development in Mindanao.
The convention received substantial support from key sponsors, reflecting the collaborative spirit necessary for impactful research and development. The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) National Research Council of the Philippines spearheaded the event in partnership with DOST Caraga, Caraga State University, and the Mindanao Development Authority.
The convention’s theme, “Towards a Positive VUCAD2 Future: Science, Technology, and Innovation’s Role in Sustainable Development in the Mindanao Region,” encapsulated the collective vision and commitment of the participants. Through engaging discussions, presentations, and stakeholder interactions, the convention provided a platform for forging stronger ties between local government units, higher education institutions, and the third sector.
The organizers express their gratitude to the participants, sponsors, and collaborators who contributed to the success of the 21st NRCP MRC Convention. The event exemplified the power of collaborative research in driving positive change and fostering a sustainable future for the Mindanao Region.
